Melanie McCauley, RDA

Office Administrator

I graduated from Blake Austin in 2011 as an RDA. I recently got married and bought a house so most of my free time goes into decorating our home.  I have a "new to me" Dachshund named Astro, and I enjoy relaxing at home, training (mostly playing) with him :)

Scheduling Coordinator

I have worked in the dental field for over 20 years, several of these years in the family oriented office of Dr. Toolson. When I'm not at work, I am highly involved with my family, including my first grandchild, and volunteering with my firefighter husband. During our "off-time" we enjoy watching SF Giants games and San Jose Sharks games.

I received an A.S. degree in Dental Assisting from City College in San Francisco. I continued my education by earning an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. I have happily worked in the dental field for over thirty years. In my spare time I enjoy taking care of my husband, home, and yards. I also enjoy exercising, watching movies and reading.

Pat Maggard, RDH

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, I spent the first 18 years of life as a bilingual "Army Brat." My dad was very adamant about keeping our family together, so we did lots of moving around and except for a one year tour in Vietnam, we always stayed together. We were stationed in Holland, Washington State and did 2 tours in Kentucky and Germany. I had the opportunity to graduate from High School in Würzburg, Germany, an incredible experience!

From the 8th grade I knew I wanted to be a dental hygienist. My Opa was a dental lab technician and my Mutti a dental assistant. I truly found my destiny! In 1983, I graduated from the University of Louisville in Kentucky with a Degree in Dental Hygiene. My first hygiene position was with a very progressive dentist in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where I first learned of micro dentistry and implants. This is also where I met my wonderful husband, the boss’s brother in law! I spent the next 21+ years as an Air Force bride. My career as a dental hygienist flourished during this time. I had the opportunity to work at Letterman Army Hospital at the Presidio of San Francisco and David Grant Dental at Travis AFB. For over 13 years of my career I worked with a periodontist, a dentist specializing in treatment of gum disease. I have been back with Dr. Toolson since May of 2006, I had the pleasure of working for him from 1987-1990, but had to leave after my husband’s transfer to Beale AFB.

During my 28+ years as a Dental Hygienist, I have had the opportunity to work for some amazing dentists. I have learned so much from all these experiences. I have beyond doubt had a well rounded career, learning all phases of dentistry. When accessing my patients, I definitely look at the big picture, taking all variables into consideration. I love my job! I wake up every morning with a smile on my face and look forward to coming to work.

My husband and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary this past August. We have one beautiful daughter who attends Napa Valley College and will transfer to UC Davis next fall. When not at work, we enjoy biking and running. I have completed over 25 marathons and at least twice as many half marathons. I have also done 2 sprint triathlons. Recently I became certified as a Jazzercise instructor and teach several evenings a week in American Canyon.
